Summer BBQ Course

Summer Course & BBQ

We will be rounding of the Jistu year by hosting a National Training Event and BBQ on 20th July. St Athan Jitsu will host an afternoon of training for both juniors and seniors taken by some of the top instructors in the country. The event will start at 12pm sharp and will continue through to 4pm when the BBQ will start. There will be plenty of breaks throughout for the junior members and a junior competition comprising of Gauntlets and Vs. It will be a great chance for a bit of friendly competition between clubs and for our juniors to show their parents what they’ve learnt so far.

The cost for the course and £10 for adults and £5 for Juniors (under 18).

If you are training then the BBQ food is free. For family members who are not training but would like to take part in the BBQ there will be a small charge for food. This will be determined closer to the event depending on numbers and will be kept as low as possible.

Junior Jiu Jitsu Atemi Nationals

Once again we have been invited by our friends in the Jitsu Foundation to send a team to the British Junior Jiu Jitsu Championships on Saturday 20th October 2018.  This year the competition will take place in the Pheonix Sports and Leisure Centre in Telford. We will be taking as many competitors as we can. At these Atemi Nationals competitors are scored on their Jiu Jitsu skills by a panel of judges rather than fighting against each other so age, size and weight is not an advantage.

Entry to the course and competition – £20 (£15 if more than one member of the same family attending)

Transport –We’ll be leaving from outside the Londis in St Athan at 7.30 am and getting back at about 7.30 pm. As always I’m hoping that we can arrange lifts with parents who are coming to watch and share the cost. This is the only way we can ensure that everybody who wants to go gets the opportunity.

If you would like to come to the British Junior Atemi Jiu Jitsu Championships you will need to get your parent/guardian to fill out the confirmation slip available on the downloads page and a £5 deposit (cash or cheque made out to the Junior Jitsu Foundation) and return it to me no later than Friday 13th October.  If you are able to provide a lift please could you let me know.  If you’ve got any questions about the British Championships ask me or Louise at the next club session, ring me on 07779041908 or email me at adam.jenkins@stathanjitsu.co.uk

Aiuchi Nationals Competition

Competition

Cost: £26

This is the main event of the Aiuchi calendar. The event comprises of 2 days of training and competitions based on skill level.

Auichi Clubs from all over the UK come together to train together under some of the most experienced and skilled Jiu Jitsu instructors in Europe.

Day 1

Day 1: The Weekend kicks off with 4 hrs of training on Saturday morning followed by competition heats. Competitors are split into categories based on skill level (belts) and compete in gauntlets and Vs whilst being cheered on by their friends and colleagues. The competitors are scored on technical ability, style, control and aggression.

The first day on the mat then finishes with a warm down and talk through the evening activities.

The Party: Saturday night comprises of a get together at at a local venue involving food, the odd drink and plenty of socialising. Its a great opportunity to let your hair down and get to know what other Jistukas get up to when their not rolling around on the mat. (probably rolling around on the dance floor) But try not to have too late a night as training on day 2 will start promptly at 1100hrs.

Day 2

Day 2: The day starts with a “gentle” warmup to clear people’s heads from the night before, then 4 more hours of training. The afternoon is taken up with the finals for each category followed by the instructors competition (browns and dans). After this the trophies are awarded and everybody says their goodbyes until the next course.
